The CNTV's Research Department is responsible for the development, promotion and support of research in all areas related to the CNTV's functions and attributions. Within this framework, various studies, monitoring, surveys and booklets have been developed with recommendations for television media coverage of: fires; migration and refugee cases; sexual orientation and gender identity; of the elderly; people with disabilities, among others. During 2023, two new booklets were published that aim to provide specific recommendations for media coverage in two areas related to gender equality. On the one hand, to promote good television practices that make it possible to eradicate gender violence and, on the other hand, to promote good practices that make it possible to advance gender equality and non-discrimination. In this regard, it should be noted that these recommendations are based on specific information from the CNTV and also with studies from other regulatory entities that are members, as well as the CNTV, of the Platform of Regulators of the Ibero-American Audiovisual Sector (PRAI).

El Departamento de Estudios del CNTV, es el encargado del desarrollo, fomento y apoyo de la investigación en todos los ámbitos relativos a las funciones y atribuciones del CNTV. En este marco, se han desarrollado diversos estudios, monitoreos, encuestas y cartillas con recomendaciones para la cobertura mediática televisiva de: incendios; casos de migración y refugio; de la orientación sexual e identidad de género; de personas mayores; de personas con discapacidad, entre otras. Durante el 2023 se publicaron dos nuevas cartillas que tienen como finalidad entregar recomendaciones específicas para la cobertura mediática en dos ámbitos relacionados con la igualdad de género. Por una parte, impulsar buenas prácticas televisivas que posibiliten erradicar la violencia de género y, por otra parte, fomentar buenas prácticas que posibiliten avanzar en la igualdad de género y la no discriminación. Al respecto, cabe destacar que estas recomendaciones se construyen a partir de información específica del CNTV y también con estudios provenientes de otras entidades reguladoras integrantes, al igual que el CNTV, de la Plataforma de Reguladores del sector Audiovisual de Iberoamerica-PRAI.
